Dr. Perlman’s powerful book and documentary, “Struggle in Paradise” depicts the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles. Dr. Bob and Dr. Perlman discuss the impact of homelessness in the community, including how it affects our children and the people going through the trauma.
Dr. Perlman also has a new book entitled: “Open Your Heart through Art: Portraits of Human Souls and their Stories.”

Dr. Perlman’s Bio:
In private practice in West Los Angeles for over 35 years. Dr. Perlman received his Ph.D. from UCLA in Clinical Psychology and a second Ph.D. in Psychoanalysis. He has published many articles in psychoanalytic journals, and authored the book The Therapist’s Emotional Survival: Dealing With the Pain of Exploring Trauma. Perlman has painted oil portraits of over 250 homeless individuals, right where they live. He collects their life stories, art and music. His Faces Of Homelessness exhibition has toured throughout Los Angeles County since 2012, covered all over the internet, major international newspapers and magazines (please see media page) and his documentary Struggle in Paradise, which depicts the lives of many of these individuals, won the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis’ Best Movie of the Year award.
