Dr. Nina Shapiro is Director of Pediatric Ear, Nose, and Throat at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA, and Professor of Head and Neck Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. A veteran of clinical and academic medicine for over two decades, she is dedicated to setting the record straight for patients and families when it comes to facts versus fiction in healthcare. Her work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, The Daily Beast, and The Hollywood Reporter, to name a few. She has been a guest on NPR, CNN, and is a regular guest on the Emmy-award winning TV show “The Doctors.” Her book “HYPE: A Doctor’s Guide to Medical Myths, Exaggerated Claims and Bad Advice: How to Tell What’s Real and What’s Not” was a Publisher’s Weekly “Best Book of 2018.”
